About
Ryan Myers (Ph.D., Learning Technologies, University of Texas at Austin [UT]; Masters, Instructional Design, Utah State University [USU]) is a graphic/web/instructional designer, videographer, photographer, and founder of RAMdesigns in Austin, TX. He is the recipient of two gallery-teaching fellowships with the Blanton Museum of Art. His research examines immersive technologies, digital storytelling, mindset, and empathy. He studies innovative ways of learning in digital spaces, the malleability of intelligence, and seeks to implement his research and studies in his media and designs.
Prior to founding RAMdesigns, Ryan was the Director of Art & Media for the internationally acclaimed Austin restaurant chain Veracruz All Natural. There he developed the company’s branding and oversaw all media, public relations, and marketing. He also worked full-time as a Learning Technologist at UT, and was a secondary social studies teacher for six years. In addition to his academic and professional careers Ryan serves on the Board of Directors at the local nonprofit TreeFolks in Austin, and volunteers as a gallery teacher at the Blanton Museum of Art. He values these opportunities to train, mentor, educate, lead, and speak his secondary language Spanish.
Through his media he hopes to immerse viewers in spaces and perspectives that may seem otherwise foreign. He looks for stories to tell that may be counter to mainstream narratives, and strives to do this in ways that are accessible, creative, and thoughtful. He gathers and analyzes both qualitative and quantitative data to learn if the desired outcomes of his work came to pass. He considers himself a lifelong learner and continually looks for ways to improve his craft through both formal and informal education and collaboration.
